Problem

When trying to install Micro Focus Server Express 5.1, the install program shows this error:

Please confirm your understanding of the above reference environment
details (y/n): y
bin/cobconvstrtest: error while loading shared libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64.

Resolution

Even though the products are supported on 32 bit and 64 bit platforms the installer itself will still need a 32 bit C compiler. Install the 32 bit C compiler and the installation will then be possible.

Problem:

RM/InfoExpress can be used to create new COBOL indexed files.  For that purpose, RM/InfoExpress can be configured to create new files using a specific user id with specific file permissions.

Resolution:

In order to get the InfoExpress server to create files with the correct permissions, you will need to execute the InfoExpress server from a shell script that sets the correct umask. This should allow you to control the shell that the InfoExpress server is created in. This will give you control over the permissions of files created using InfoExpress.

UNIX-like operating system, have the function, "umask", which can be used to change the default permissions for newly created files for any user.

For more information regarding umask, please consult the man pages for your operating system.

Web-to-Host doesn’t work with Microsoft Edge browser on Windows 10.

Web-to-host will not work with Edge because Microsoft has dropped support for most plugins in the Edge browser. This means that Java, ActiveX, Silverlight, and other plugins are no longer supported. For this reason Microsoft has included Internet Explorer 11, which does support these plugins, on Windows 10 and it should work with Web-to-Host.

Web-to-Host version 6.8 is the only version that is supported on Internet Explorer 11. However, you should be able to run prior versions in IE11 compatibility mode. To enable compatibility mode for the 6.x versions of W2H, follow execute these steps:

1. Open IE 11 and click on the Tools menu. Then select “Compatibility View Settings” option.

2. Type your Web-to-Host site in “Add the Web site” text box and press the Add button.

3. You should see your web site listed under “Websites you have added to compatibility View. Press Close button.

Current Revision posted to Rumba Knowledge Base by ztalpur on 1/29/2016 9:25:34 PM

When Rumba is connected to a mainframe over a network via TCP/IP, TCP Keepalive feature can be used to determine if the connection is still active. Enable this feature if you want the host connection to be monitored for connection issues. This feature can be enabled by executing the following steps:

Click on Connection > Configure > TN3270Advanced tab. Select “Send KeepAlive” option. Two options are provided for this feature:

System

Enables TCP/IP connection monitoring. This depends on host generated Keep Alive packets.

Send NOP

Enables Rumba to transmit NOP packets on an idle connection to maintain connectivity and detect connection failures. Use the Interval field to specify the interval, in seconds, at which to send the packet.

Please contact Micro Focus SupportLine should you have any further questions regarding this matter.

The issue is most likely caused by a corrupt session settings files. Please execute the following steps in order to resolve this issue:

Close all active Web-to-Host and the Internet explorer windows.

Launch file explorer and navigate to the following location:

 %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Micro Focus\Rumba\Settings

Locate a file with the same name as the session name. For instance, if the session name is mysession.html then its settings file will be saved as mysession.cph. Delete your .cph file.

Now launch the session again and print again.

A single page should be printed for each screen.

Please contact Micro Focus SupportLine shall the problem still persists.

Note: Please make sure that your session doesn’t have the “print area setup” feature enabled.

Please contact Micro Focus SupportLine if are experiencing the problem with this feature enabled for the session.
